Ghost Kings In SEA Magic (鬼王)
I was off to do a meditation for two days in an abandoned cemetery to try my next level of Thai Magic: Invoking Thai ghost kings. In case you wonder, the "Ghost Kings" in this context means real spiritual "Ghost Kings"; not the human dubbed "XX Ghost King". The former are spirits while the later are real human with flesh and blood.
There are about 6 ghost kings in Thai magic practices excluding Hanuman and the two Thai Wa Da.

The Hanuman is known as the ultimate ghost king in Brahmanism. He is said to have power over all spirits such as ghosts. Hanuman is invoked to cure spirit possessions in my lineage. In Kedah an evil spirit called Hantu Doman is a survival of the Monkey God, Hanuman, who occurs in the Hindu legend Ramayana. It is described as having the face of a horse and the body of a man.
The two Thai Wa Da I seen are quite different: one is a monk with a smiling face, but the other is a monster with long hair and measured up to 12ft tall. I am open to discussion as to your side of the story. The later hairy creature looks more like the “Hantu Raya”.
In some instances, Siva in some cases is identified as the Spectre Huntsman or “Hantu Raya”; it literarily transited to “Great Spirit” or in another words “The raja of ghosts”. But I would treat “Hantu Raya” as wandering spirits because the greatest spirit is “God”. Whatever you want to call them, they are just spirits.
The Taoist ghost king is the leader of the five ghosts. It is normally worshipped with raw meat, blood and animal intestines or internal organs. This ghost king is to lead the five ghosts and to control them. I am actually interested in the numbers 6: 6 spirits for Taoist magic and 6 spirits for Thai magic. I don’t suppose this is a coincidence.
Incidentally, I have inhereted a ghoul king from my master. It has manifested in many forms: once a bearded Middle Eastern gentleman in black, a black shadow and at times a black giant cobra snake.
Anyway, inviting a ghost king into one's altar will attract many other spirits into the altar, apparently this practice is not for any fainthearted to experiment with; not to mention that if we are to invite all six ghost kings into our home! I sworn that I heard their laughter at night: "Ha ha ha..." Creepy but true.
